Position Summary:The Care Pastor will organize and implement care for the congregation through relational and caring actions during life’s pivotal moments.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversee visitation and calls. This includes being available for emergency situations, medical visits, and maintaining a routine for visits to those in nursing homes or homebound.  Managing part-time Care Pastor and volunteers to help meet these needs.
  • Provide leadership to the Prayer Ministry. Overseeing all prayer requests, including texts, prayer chains, and weekly prayer initiatives during services or volunteer teams.
  • Serve as the primary point person for funerals. This includes being a resource for the family, funeral home, and church through the process.  Give leadership to the various parts of the funeral ministry, including overseeing funeral dinners, bereavement follow-up, and training other pastors to help with funerals.
  • Collaborate with the Connections Pastor to administrate the wedding ministry, which involves conducting initial wedding consultations, assigning pre-martial couples, and implementing assessments and policies to best serve the couples and the church. This may include developing a healthy system of pastors who can also help officiate weddings.
  • Advise the Seniors Ministry (60+), led by the part-time Care Pastor. Ensure the overarching goal of this ministry is to reach those far from Christ and stay active in the church body.
  • Meet with individuals or couples who seek pastoral counseling. When needed, work with individuals who walk in. Additionally, this may include overseeing counseling referrals or developing connections for counseling needs.
  • Provide systems to assist with congregational members' emergency financial needs. Serve as the point person to Bounceback. Occasionally, financial wellness programs may need to be developed to help educate or serve groups within the congregation.
  • Manage care ministry initiatives such as the Encouragement Card Team.
  • Ability to create relational connections within the congregation.
  • Oversee Celebrate Recovery. This includes coaching and supporting the CR leadership team, aiding in the weekly administration of meetings, and helping to resolve any conflict or issues that may arise. Ensure that a County Line Pastor is available most weeks. Coordinate with the part-time Care Pastor to help continue this ministry effort.
  • Serve as the primary support person for current restorative programs such as Stephen Ministry and Grief Share.
  • Ability to create and implement new restorative programs appropriate for the community. This could include Divorce Care, Mental Wellness, etc.
  • Availability during service times to assist with care needs, ministry items, or other needs.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

Education and Experience:

  • Prior ministry experience of 5 or more years

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to do public speaking.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form before groups of volunteers, church members, or staff. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  
  • Must have knowledge and ability to use technology.  
  • Expected work week Sunday –Thursday. This position does require evening and weekend hours.

Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates:

  • Valid driver’s license.

 

Spiritual Requirements:

  • Regular involvement in County Line Church activities and events.  
  • Signed acknowledgment of County Line Church’s Statement of Faith and Staff Lifestyle Agreement.  
  • Signed acknowledgment of policies and procedures as stated in County Line’s employee handbook.  
  • Living out the spiritual principles outlined in the Staff Lifestyle Agreement, participation in a small group;  
  • Tithing consistently, attending worship services, being involved in outreach, following Christ personally and passionately, and having sexual purity.  

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand during hospital and other visits.
  • Can physically navigate hospitals, nursing homes, or homes.
